The New Opticron U. T. A. (Universal Tele Adapter) pushes on to the eyepiece of many items from the Opticron range, including their binoculars, monoculars and spotting scopes.
Magnification is increased by 2.0x; a 10x42 monocular will become a 20x42 monocular, a 60x spotting scope eyepiece will be 120x. We are selling these specifically for the Opticron BGA / DBA monoculars, as such they come with the correct adapter ring for those products (as pictured), however, as mentioned the UTA will fit a whole host of Opticron products with the correctly sized ring. We have so far only tested the UTA in strong sunlight, and did not notice any darkening of the image (however, it must absorb some light), we did notice the field of view was reduced, but the monocular we tested it on (the Opticron 10x42 DBA) was still very usable even with the reduced field. Another "side effect" was that with the high magnification, the monocular + UTA is more difficult to hold steady, the situation we were in allowed us to rest our elbows which provided enough stability, although Opticron to make tripod adapter rings for both the BGA and DBA monoculars. The Opticron UTA features a twist-up / twist-down eye cup and comes with a neck strap.
