I m interested in how these would compare with the Swift Audubon HSS 8.5 x 44 s and what your general opinions of these binoculars are? I have a pair of the Swifts and find them very good but now need a second pair of binoculars for another member of the family and wondered if these would offer any advantages.

Many thanks
DW

It is a case of "as expected".

The Kowa have a little bit extra sharpness and the colour transmission is a little more neutral than the Swifts.

They are not hugely better, but there is a clear difference. They are slightly brighter than the Swifts and therefore better in low light conditions.

Physically they feel much more solid than the Swifts (but, we have never seen a broken pair of the Swift HHS binoculars), I prefer the eyecups and the feel of the focusing on the Kowa.

Having said all of that, the Swift Audubon HHS are very good binoculars, it is just that the Kowa are better, which is "as expected" considering the extra costs.
