Slik Accessories

The Slik Quick Release Post fits the Slik Black Diamond and the 88 Series tripods (known as the Slik U212 models in other markets). As can be seen from the image, it is about an inch long cylinder with a standard 1/4" thread on top. This is the only cylinderical quick release Slik have used (Slik now use flat, rectangular clip in plates)

We have never actually sold any (or even tried to sell any) of the Black Diamond / 88 series tripods (excellent tripods but designed for photography rather than binoculars or spotting scopes), however we get lots of emails, telephone enquires etc from people wanting to by spare Slik Quick Release Posts for these models. We now stock these spares.

Due to their weight, we are able to offer the same shipping terms as we do on monoculars - as well as our standard free delivery within Great Britain we will also ship without additional charge to British Commonwealth Countries and the USA.

Is it possible to get the quick release post with the screw 1/8th inch longer ?

These are the only ones listed in the price list I am afraid.

I have measured a few of the ones that we have in stock just in case the thread varies, unfortunately, they are all the same.

You could always try adapting one, not sure how, probably by removing the existing thread and replacing it with a longer one.

Do you have these in stock, Jessops have never heard of this item and told me it was discontinued at the same time as the tripod.

Could I collect one, I only live in Peterborough?

We get a huge amount of business from that retailer!

The Slik posts are still available, we sell loads of them. The post fits the Slik 88, Slik 88 Black Diamond and the Slik U212 Deluxe tripods.

Yes you can collect one, we have them in stock so that is not a problem.

I have a problem with my slik88. The parts inside one of the legs pop out whenever I open that leg, it sims as if the spring is not strong enough to push the side parts to hold the whole thing in place. Please help!!

We have no idea how these tripods are put together, so can not offer any advice.

Our only suggestion would be to contact your local Slik distributor, (there is a list of global distributors at their international website Slik.com) who should be able to either repair the tripod or supply the spare parts required.

The bit that screws into the scope/camera/whatever has a standard 1/4" Whitworth thread.

Ref SLIK 88 series tripods.Ref Your quick release post. Would you please tell me the diameter of the base (kurned section). We have the said tripod and bits are missing but on the top section there is a holed piece with a clip which appears to work as a locking device. If the diameter is right then I assume the Quick release post just drops in the hole and the release clip is engaged. therefore I just need to check the diameter. Thanks for your assistance. Colin

We do not have any in stock to measure (they are on order, of which about 1/4 are already sold). I think the specifications shown are correct, 25mm long and 18mm wide/diameter. The hole on the top of the tripod is a little bigger as the post tends to be quite loose until locked in with a camera (or whatever) on top.

From your description, it sounds like the quick release post is missing. It just drops into the hole on the top of the tripod, the little (usually grey) lever is pulled out to enable the post to drop fully in, then turned to lock it in place.

I bought a Slik88 N when we were stationed in the UK MANY MANY years ago. I need a quick release post so I can attach to my digital camera but don t know if it will fit this specific model can you tell me any info you have on this model Thanks

It is many, many years since Slik discontinued the 88 series, so I can not remember the differences between the specific models (I think the N was silver coloured).

All of the 88 series did use the same quick release post, Slik have also only ever had one quick release post (other models have used a flat quick release plate).

This should be the one you are after.
